1st impression that gets me everytime. (Originally posted April 15, 2013)
Brian - Alright, enough with the softball topics, this week you’re going to have to dig a little harder to find that nugget of pop culture gold. This week’s topic for the League of Extraordinary Bloggers…

You never get a second chance at a first impression–what moment in pop culture had you saying “Now, that’s how you make an introduction!”

Dig deeper? No, not likely. As soon as I read the topic there was only thing that popped into my head.
Best first impression of all time.
Talk about making a first impression. Yeah, you know throughout the entire movie that he is Superman. But that sill doesn't prepare you for his intro. This is, and always will be, the perfect Superman scene. Everything works. You have the iconic costume. You have the John Williams soundtrack building up to THAT moment. We see Christopher Reeve as Superman for the first time. (I don't care how many actors have played or will play Superman, Mr. Reeve IS Superman.) Then you have the fluttering of the cape and, I love this part, there are no wires!
I still remember the tagline from this movie, "You'll Believe a Man Can Fly!" At that moment, I did. I was never a Superman fan until this moment. I grew up reading Spider-Man and X-Men. But watching this scene on 30 foot tall screen changed everything. Even now I get goosebumps watching this scene. I feel... well... I feel kinda like these guys:
Except put "Superman Intro" instead "Mufasa."
What else going on around the league? Let's check it out...
Big J was impressed with Doctor Who's reboot appearance. To be honest, I totally agree with him. That's the reason why I am hooked on that show. Apparently I'm not the only one impressed by Superman. I have a kindred spirit in John over at the Batcave Toy Room. An LeAnn from Retro Toy Safari went with what would've been my second choice.
