30 Day Star Wars Challenge - Day 3 - Favorite member of the Empire/New Order

Ok, this was another close one.  I really, really liked Hux in TFA.  Nothing like having a petulant child in charge of your military might (good going, Snoke).  But gonna have to go with...

Grand Moff Tarkin.

Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin.  The only man in the galaxy able to command a Dark Lord of the Sith.  He ballsy enough to destroy and entire planet.  That's right, AN ENTIRE FLIPPIN' PLANET!  So he made one mistake, one lousy mistake and that's what everyone remembers.*  Whatever, he is still my favorite member of the Empire.  And the fact that he was portrayed by the legendary Peter Cushing just makes it that much cooler.  Oh, and let's not forget the little hottie girlfriend of his, Admiral Daala.  And now that they've expanded his history via Clone Wars and Rebels, how could I choose anyone else. Really, need I say more?

* - Still working on that bit of fanfic.

30 Day Star Wars Challenge - Day 2 - Favorite member of the Rebellion/Resistance

This one was a bit tough.  I still love Wedge, but he got narrowly (and it was the thinnest of margins) beat by another fellow pilot.

Poe Dameron

He's a part Wedge, a part Han and a pinch of Lando.  He had some great lines in TFA (Who talks first? Do I talk first?) and showed off his piloting skills that would probably give Luke a run for his money.

I felt that Oscar Issac, the actor behind the character, really enjoyed playing the role and being part of "a larger world".  Seriously, he looked like he was having fun when he was on screen.  And that helped sell the character.

30 Day Star Wars Challenge - Day 1 - All-time favorite character in Star Wars

This one really hasn't changed from last year so this was easy.  I would have to say that my favorite character is:

Han Solo

From the moment you saw him on the screen, you knew this guy had swagger.  Confidence, a hint of arrogance and (after he shot first) a bit of aggressiveness.  His best bud is an 8' walking carpet that only he seems to understand and he has the coolest ride this side of the Tingel Arm.  He has everything under control, is full of surprises and never wants to know the odds.  He survived betrayal by his friend, being tortured by an asthmatic Sith, as an ice cube ornament for a gangster and losing his vision (temporarily).  He also has the greatest one liners.  In the end, he gets his eyesight back, his ride (minus one rectenna) back, his friends back and he got the girl.  And we haven't even touched on his expanded history in the EU*.

2016 Update - [SPOILER ALERT]  Seriously, if you haven't seen The Force Awakens by now, what's wrong with you?  You have been warned.

Still my favorite even after there's nobody left to swindle.  Always manages to get out of most tight situations.  Still upset he is gone, but he will live on in my heart and my memories forever.

RIP Han Solo.

I had the opportunity to talk to Han before I wrote this and told that he topped the list as my favorite character.  His response was all Solo.

* - I don't care what Disney says, the original EU happened.
